Are you thinking about moving off-campus? Here are some common questions that students have when they begin that process:

  • How many °®¶¹´«Ã½ students live off campus? 
    Approximately 7,000 of °®¶¹´«Ã½'s enrolled population live in off-campus housing.
  • Where do I begin to look for off-campus housing?

    The is a list of available apartments or houses grouped by number of bedrooms and by landlord, this resource contains information such as rental price, security deposit, furnished or unfurnished, utilities included or not and whether pets are allowed or not. Approximately 1700 rental listings are advertised on the web portal. 

  • Where do I stay while visiting °®¶¹´«Ã½ to search for off-campus housing?
    The °®¶¹´«Ã½ area offers a variety of hotels and lodging to meet your needs while you search the area for a more permanent dwelling. For more information, check the website.
  • Where do off-campus students typically live?
    The majority of °®¶¹´«Ã½'s off-campus population lives on °®¶¹´«Ã½'s West side. Several students also live in Johnson City and Vestal, which are each about a 10-minute drive, with several methods of public transportation servicing each area. Students choosing to live in Endicott or Endwell are about 15-20 minutes away and should consider a personal vehicle.
  • Do I need a car to live off campus?
    Having a personal vehicle can be convenient, but with two local bus systems – Off-Campus College Transport (OCCT) and Broome County (BC) Transit lines running throughout campus and the local community, a car isn't necessary for all off-campus students. All °®¶¹´«Ã½ University students pay a mandatory "transportation fee" at the beginning of each semester, which allows students unlimited free transportation on both bus systems with a °®¶¹´«Ã½ ID. 
  • How can I find information about local landlords and properties?
    Visit the OCC office in the Dean of Students suite for more information about local landlords or property managers. 
  • What should I take into consideration when looking for off-campus housing?

    There are several factors to consider when looking for off-campus housing, including but not limited to: 

    • Location
    • Condition of the dwelling
    • Lease
    • Your needs
